We are delighted Waltham Forest council and the government have rejected all proposals by Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) to convert the building to church use. We believe its restoration as an entertainment venue is key to the regeneration of the area.
The feasibility report commissioned by Waltham Forest council in 2010 outlines a range of exciting possibilities for restoring the cinema as a multi-purpose entertainment venue. In direct response to this report, in Spring 2011 the Waltham Forest Cinema Trust, a not-for-profit company, was launched with the aim of acquiring the building.
Supported by Waltham Forest Council, in 2014 the Trust continues to strenghten its plans to revive the venue as a major cinema and live entertainment destination. See the vision document for details of these exciting plans.
